Zhang Lianwei was the top Chinese finisher, coming in 31st place with an even-par 288. His next event will be the Japan PGA Championship from May 15 to 18. The other top Chinese performers in the event—Li Chao, Fan Zhipeng and Zhang Xinjun—will play in the Shanghai Championship at Orient Golf Country Club on the same dates.
In its second year, the Pine Valley Beijing Open—the first event sanctioned by the Asian Tour, Japan Golf Tour and China Golf Association—offered US $1 million in prize money, twice as much as in 2007.
